Hope Plastics North Hollywood, since 1964

From a sketch to a million parts, under one roof.

Hope Plastics is a three-generation family injection molder in North Hollywood. We design the part, print the prototype, cut the mold and run production, on nineteen presses from 35 to 1,200 tons.

One shop, four stages. Here is the same product moving through all of them.

A customer brought us an idea for a marine flotation device. We drew it, printed it, cut the mold and molded it. Most jobs follow this path; you can join at any stage.

  1. Hand-drawn concept sketch of the flotation device

    Design

Your napkin sketch, sample or broken part becomes a SolidWorks model you can review as drawings, PDFs or e-drawings.

  2. 3D-printed prototype of the flotation device, white with a red cap

    Prototype

A finished, assembled prototype from our PolyJet or stereolithography machines, so you can hold it before we cut steel.

  3. Fadal vertical machining center used to cut molds

    Mold

Aluminum, P-20 or hardened H-13 steel, sized to your production run, designed in SolidWorks and cut on our CNC mills and EDM.

  4. The finished flotation device, molded in yellow

    Molding

Production on the right size press, color matched to your sample, with inserts, screens or over-molding when the part calls for it.

Nineteen presses, from 35 to 1,200 tons.

Small enough for a 1.2-ounce shot, big enough for a 16-pound one. Most of the floor sits in the 250 to 500 ton range, which covers the majority of consumer and industrial parts.

Don Borden started in plastics in 1946 and founded Hope Plastics in 1964 with his wife and two sons. Three machines in a single industrial unit grew to nearly twenty, and in 1974 the shop moved to its present building on Strohm Avenue in North Hollywood.

Today three generations of the family work together here, solving design, molding and manufacturing problems for customers in sporting goods, electronics, marine, pet, garden and consumer products. When you call, you talk to a Borden.
